We developed this Power BI floor plan dashboard for commercial landlords, using Microsoft Power BI. The report provides an overview of the numbers of key documents and plans captured from tenants in the lead up to, during and following the Tenant Fit-Out process.
The Power BI floor plan visual is a third party component from SQLBI. We recognise the emerging trend that business reporting is becoming more visual. What better way to visualise data relating to a building than through reports that make use of floor plans?
Check out the fully interactive dashboard below. Please note, you can view the dashboard in full screen by clicking this icon in the bottom right corner.
Benefits of using Floor Plans
When dealing with data that is anchored to a specific location within a building, such as documents relating to a particular demise, floor plans give geographical context to the data and enables users to spot trends across a given floor.
This example Power BI floor plan dashboard uses graphical visualisations to show the percentage of required documents that have been successfully captured. Each page shows a different part of the building. This example report includes details for the Lower Ground Floor, Ground Floor and First Floor.
It is clear at-a-glance which demises on each floor are lagging behind. Clicking on each of the demises isolates metrics relating to the specific tenant(s) occupying that demise. This makes it easy for users to identify the tenants for whom key documentation has not yet been captured.
Multiple Layers of Detail
We recognise that the number over documents captured is a key metric, but not the only metric that may be important to commercial landlords. Landlords can drill into the data in a variety of ways.
- The split between current and previous tenants is shown. This enables landlords to check whether all current occupants are up to date.
- The high level totals of the number of documents applicable for review, and the number that have actually been reviewed, provides further context for the data.
- The funnel diagram on page 5 gives a clear visual representation of the process of capturing and reviewing tenant documents.
Overall, the floor plan visualisation opens up new opportunities for us to get better intelligence from our data, using Power BI floor plan dashboards and reports.
